The other you can use to review is our review sheet that you were given for last semester’s final. Week of February 9th–13th: We will be starting a new Unit this week. If you missed the Unit 4 Test, then please see me to schedule a time to make it up.

————————————————————————————————————————————- We will start the next and final unit of this semester. We will be starting the second half of Unit 3. I will be giving you assignments to begin over the Thanksgiving break.

This week we will be doing sequences in all classes and having a quiz on Friday. Honors will be learning how to graph exponentials in addition to sequences and your quiz will be a M.U.B. Remember that tutoring is a time to ask questions on anything you need help with it, it does not have to be the current material. Please use tutoring times to clear up misconceptions.

Also you are welcome to come to tutoring and look over your tests to see what mistakes you made. We will have time to do this in class but it won’t be this week.

Tip of the week: Don’t give up on yourself! Too many of us say we can’t do it and aren’t trying. You can accomplish whatever you set your mind to. Use your notes, ask a friend, come see me but you have to ask if you are having trouble don’t hide and think that you aren’t capable.

—————————————————————————————————————————- Unit 3A test is this Friday. We wrote down our study guide today in class of what you are expected to be able to do on the test. Here is the practice review sheet for this test. Tutoring is Tuesday afternoon until 3:35 and Thursday morning starting at 7:15am. We will also have our Math Parent night this Wednesday from 5 to 6pm in my room, 1205. ———————————————————————————————————————— We will be continuing to analyze functions and identify the different parts of graphs all this week. You will have another quiz this Friday which can replace last Friday’s quiz if it is higher.

I want to make sure you learn how to identify the parts of a function. Our test on Unit 3 will be November 14.

There will be no LEAP tutoring on Tuesday, November 4th due to no school but we will resume LEAP on Thursday morning. Please continue to do homework nightly even if you feel comfortable with the material. It never hurts to do a problem more than once! Your quiz corrections on the three graphs will be due WEDNESDAY this week instead of FRIDAY. Don’t forget that you now have an online textbook that you can use!! ——————————————————————————- Students you will get back your quiz from Friday during class on Monday to make corrections on it by this Friday.

The most important thing is to learn from your mistakes. You have two tutoring opportunities during LEAP to ask any questions you have from the quiz. You can also look back on your notes, old assignments or look in your textbook to help you fix the things you got wrong on the quiz. I will have examples of good and bad error analysis sheets for you to reference. We haven’t been filling these out completely. I want you to reflect on the mistakes you make so that you don’t make them again in the future.

We are continuing Unit 3 this week and will be analyzing graphs. We have a LOT of vocabulary to learn on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so you will need to put aside time each night to be reviewing the terms. You will have homework nightly this week and a quiz on Friday (except 7th). Keep up with your Interactive notebooks and use them as a resource while doing your homework. I have heard way too many people tell me that they aren’t using their notes when they do their homework. We are also competing against the other Coordinate Algebra classes to collect boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Bring in small gifts and/or school supplies for boys and girls ages 2-14.

We will stuff boxes on Monday, November 3rd. Please participate if you wish. You can gain 1 community service hour for every 2 boxes you fill and an addtional hour for helping stuff on Monday. You can gain at most 15 hours from this one event. ———————————————————————————————————————————- We started Unit 3 last Thursday. So far students have learned how to identify if something is a function through graphs and tables/maps and then they have learned how to classify if a function is even, odd or neither by looking at the graph to determine if it has symmetry, testing it algebracially or doing the shortcut of looking at the exponents.

We will continue our unit on Functions this week by learning how to do operations with function notation and then talking about average rate of change. You will have homework nightly. Remember this unit is heavy on vocabulary so set time aside time each night to review your notes, make notecards and rewrite the notes you are given in class. We will be taking a mid unit quiz in ALL classes on Friday, October 24th.

For your quiz you need to be able to: -Evaluate functions using function notation -Determine if something is a graph in several ways (graphically or from a table) -Classify functions as even, odd or neither (graphically, algebraically or using the shortcut) -computations with function operations -Calculate average rate of change You will have a foldable for each of the things you need to be able to do by Tuesday of this week so please reference your INBs nightly when doing your homework. Tip of the week: Rewrite notes, make flashcards, and rework the problems we did in class before starting your homework. There is nothing more frustrating than sitting down to do homework problems and not knowing where to start, so review what we did in class to help refresh your brain before tackling homework. LEAP tutoring will be offered as usual this week on Tuesday afternoon until 4:35 and then Thursday morning starting at 7:15.

You may bring questions on anything (old or new) and you may also use tutoring time to do your homework in case you have questions. Please remember tutoring is a time for you to get extra help so you need to come prepared with questions and always have something to work on that relates to coordinate algebra. Tutoring is a privilege and a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of the standards so use the time wisely. I always have extra practice you can work on during tutoring, please just ask if this is something that you would like to do. A few reminders: If you are absent, please check the crate on your table in the back of the room for missed assignments. When you are absent it is your responsibility to turn in the make up work to me.

The homework/classwork assignments, quizzes or tests that are missed due to your absences will go in as a zero if not made up–I will not track you down to get your makeup work. You have the amount of days absent plus one additional day to get work to me if your absent was excused. I do NOT accept late work. ————————————————————————————————————– If you do not have the review sheet for tomorrow’s test, then please click on the link to print a blank copy. Answers were given today in class. Please make sure that you can get the answer for eachif you can, then you are prepared for tomorrow’s test.
